How to Choose the right color

Your client brings in their personal color, we can begin by selecting the nearest color. If you have to mix, you will always start the lighter shade and gradually add the darker pigment drop by dropStirring with a toothpick after each drop you will blend your desired color.

Color Test

To test the color on the clients skin. Take a toothpick and dip it into the pigment, lift it out and place the toothpick against the skin near the area you will be applying the permanent makeup. Do not smear, gently blot and see if the color matches the pencil.

Path Test

It is highly suggested to give a patch test in the area that you will be putting the makeup on the client not only because of any allergic reaction, but to see if there are any color changes that may take place. The reason for this is that sometimes the undertones and chemistry in a persons skin can slightly ashen the color. To patch test means to actually tattoo a little bit of color to the area that you will be doing one week prior to the actually procedure. After the week, compare the color in the bottle to the color in the skin? If it appears ashier that the bottle, then this means that the client had very strong blue undertones in the skin. Don't forget that because the colors are transparent, they will mix together with whatever undertones are in the skin. If this occurs, then you know to choose a color from the warm palette. Brows should be spot tested right in the brow area.
